Our History

Established in 1992, Allroad Motor Body Builders has since provided its clients with expertise in building road transport equipment and are committed to delivering quality, reliable and durable equipment.

The first few years after establishing the business were filled with stress, worry & hard work from owner Jack Spaanderman, who is an automotive body builder by trade with experience in first class welding. Things started to look up after about 4 years of trading and he took on his first apprentice and moved to a slightly larger workshop. In the following years, Allroads continued to grow and expand so that moving again became a must. A one-acre block was bought at the new Pendeen Industrial Estate and a new well-equipped modern workshop was built.

To meet the ever-growing industry demands, Jack invested in modern and innovative equipment in 2007 which has proved to be an invaluable asset to the business. The new equipment, included two overhead cranes, 160 tonne press brake, a 4 tonne forklift, a guillotine etc – this helped the employees immensely in carrying out work faster & more efficiently; in turn maximizing our clients profitability.

Foreman, Chad Stewart, who manages the workshop, has an extensive knowledge in the road transport industry. Starting as an apprentice with Allroads in 1998, Chad left after finishing his trade, and went to work first overseas and then in the mining industry up north. In 2005, Chad returned to Allroads and soon took up the position of Foreman.
Chad has also studied AutoCAD and now engineers most of our drawings here in the workshop. His drawings are very detailed yet clear, making it easy for our employees to build a specified product according to a customers order. Chad has shown immense dedication and commitment to the business and is a very valuable member of our team!

Jacks wife, Rose Spaanderman, has been involved in the business from day one. Originally, taking the books home was a once a month job which gradually increased over the years until a computer accounting program was needed. After purchasing Quickbooks, Rose did some training and has since developed an extensive knowledge of the software program. Trying to raise 6 children & juggle a growing workload soon became too much for Rose, and they employed Henk Korthuis as office manager. Henk was with the business for quite a number of years but when he left, Rose returned to the position. After another few years of full time office work, Jack & Rose decided to employ another office manager. Over a period of 6 months, 2 men were employed, both which didn’t work out, causing Rose to once again take up the position. In May, 2009, Abby Plug joined the team and has been a pleasant input of youth and vitality in the office. Now the office is constantly abuzz with phones ringing and clients & reps dropping in.

Allroads has come a long way since first being established 18 years ago, and with our increasing motor body knowledge & dedicated team members, we can expect to see a lot more growth in the near future!
